Here’s what’s #trending in the world of plastic surgery
- Posted on: Oct 16 2017
The stats are in. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, nearly 1.8 million cosmetic surgeries took place in 2016. That’s a lot of procedures, and probably a lot of satisfied patients. After all, even a slight change in a spot on our bodies that causes anxiety or worry can make a significant difference in our self-confidence and self-esteem.
The society also ranked the top five most popular cosmetic surgeries. They are breast augmentation, liposuction, nose reshaping, eyelid surgery, and facelifts. All of these procedures saw an increase, and all are offered in our New York clinics. Here’s a brief breakdown of each of these procedures, including an explanation of who they might be the right fit for.
Individuals love breast augmentations because they can give small or unevenly sized breasts a fuller, firmer, better-proportioned look. No matter your reasons for wanting an augmentation, we will work together to ensure that your saline or silicone implants look and feel natural and are a size that you are excited about.
Sometimes a great diet and exercise are simply not enough to shed unwanted fat. Liposuction shapes the body by removing these stubborn pockets of fat in areas like the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, neck, and upper arms. There are several techniques to complete liposuction, but all are performed with discretion in mind as fat layers are removed through a small incision.
Whether you are recovering from an injury or have always felt uncomfortable with the appearance of your nose, a rhinoplasty is an opportunity to get the look that you love. Together, we can evaluate your current situation and set realistic expectations for your final result. The surgery itself might include balancing the size of your nose with your other facial features, contouring your nasal tip, correcting asymmetry, or removing humps or depressions.
If you are tired of people telling you that you look tired or you have noticed sagging or puffy eyes when you glance in the mirror, an eye lift can be an ideal solution. During this procedure, I remove excess skin tissue and stitch the incisions closed. In some cases, no skin needs to be removed at all. No matter the technique we choose, after recovery you’ll notice you have more youthful eyes, and perhaps even improved vision.
Facelifts are an ideal option for both men and women hoping to correct sagging, deep creases under the eyes, loss of muscle tone, and loose skin and fat under the chin and jaw. These insecurity-causers are often created by time, gravity, sun exposure, and daily stress, but facelifts can help counteract it all by tightening muscle, removing fat, and trimming excess skin.
We want you to feel comfortable in your own skin and happy with the way you look. Please never hesitate to ask questions about your surgical options or physical concerns. Over the course of my time as a physician, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many individuals who are on a journey to obtain a look that matches how they feel inside. Let me help you get there, too.
